Travel though Vietnam by sleeper bus: practical and friendly
You want to travel through Vietnam but you don't want to ride a motorcycle for hours, pay too much for the flights or find that the lengthy train journey is a waste of time, then opt for the sleeper bus, there are some bus operators running from north to south Vietnam and vice versa, with stops at famous tourist destinations along the way such as Ninh Binh, Hue, Danang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet!

If you do not know the sleeper buses, this is a coach that can accommodate up to forty passengers and that allow you to travel from city to city, in a rather special way. The seats are indeed reclining and allow you to lie down with the necessary equipment (cushion and blanket), therefore ideal for night trips.

This famous concept - which unfortunately does not exist in developed countries - is practical, inexpensive and saves time when traveling through Vietnam. Offered for overnight travel, they allow you to avoid paying for a hotel night or encroaching on the day. In my opinion, the sleeper bus is also much more practical and comfortable than renting a private minibus, which in the end takes the same time but does not offer you the same comfort for sleeping on board. In addition, vehicles are more and more modern today and make it easier to sleep during the journey, which suddenly passes very quickly! Some buses are even equipped with wifi.

I had the opportunity to test twice; the first time was already a surprise in terms of comfort and the second time was all the more surprising with comfort mixed with a certain modernity and impeccable cleanliness. I would even say “hyped” sleeper buses - to speak of youth. Plaid and pillows provided, it was gone for a good night's sleep, and I absolutely did not see the time pass! Well, certainly it is not absolute perfection either. Let's say that Vietnamese people like to sleep on rather solid mattresses, and that the sleeper bus reflects it perfectly - apparently it's good for the back! Let's also talk about lights and music; some buses have small lights of all colors inside - disco atmosphere - which does not really help you sleep. In addition, some drivers like to put on the music (rather loud) during the trip - to perhaps get in the mood - but that depends entirely on the drivers. But do not worry, in my experience, they end up turning it off after a while to allow everyone to reach the land of dreams.

Now let's talk about serious things: the price. The sleeper bus is also known to be an inexpensive form of transportation in Vietnam. Indeed, it is much cheaper than the train but slightly more than the classic day bus. The fares are generally between 50,000 and 100,000 dong more than for a day trip. Which represents 2-4 euros more, not much for a trip that is more convenient. Private shuttles can also come back almost at the same price, but you won't be able to stretch out horizontally, like in a sleeper bus.

Regarding the reservation , I recommend that you go directly to the departure bus station to take your ticket. You can also find the telephone number of companies on the internet to reserve your place. However, it is rather inconvenient that you speak English or French, if you have a friend or a Vietnamese acquaintance, she will probably be able to help you - these Vietnamese are so nice! Show up 30 minutes in advance to be sure of your place and above all to settle in peacefully. I also recommend that you notify the driver of your stop, on a piece of paper or on your phone (to be sure you make yourself understood) so that he can come and warn you, if you never get off at the terminus. For my part, they came to wake me up when I arrived at my destination - I told you, too nice!

The sleeper train must also be a very good experience, more expensive but from what I have been told, very comfortable and safe. I will tell you about it as soon as I have tested it!

Hoping that this article will be useful to you, I wish you a nice discovery of the incredible country that is Vietnam!.
