Complete guide to a relaxing Vung Tau getaway

On my recent trip, I chose Vung Tau as a destination for a short getaway
to "get away" from stressful work days. Not too far from Ho Chi Minh City,
with its blue sea, rich cuisine, and many beautiful photo spots, Vung Tau is
truly one of the coastal cities I always want to return to.
During this trip, I not only explored prominent tourist attractions but also
experienced local cuisine, traveled around the city, and especially stayed
at some noteworthy hotels, all of this made for a fulfilling and memorable
trip.
Outstanding entertainment venues in Vung Tau
Christ the King Statue - Panoramic view of the seaside city
My first stop was the Christ the King statue on Nho Mountain. Reaching the
summit required climbing quite a few steps, but standing on the statue's
shoulders and looking down, the panoramic view of Vung Tau's coastline was
truly worthwhile. On one side was the vast blue sea, on the other the
bustling city - an unforgettable experience.
Nghinh Phong Cape - The place to enjoy the wind and the most beautiful
sunset.
Nghinh Phong Cape was where I spent quite a bit of my afternoon. The open
space, strong sea breeze, the vast ocean in front, and mountains behind. The
"Heaven's Gate" here is an extremely popular photo spot. I arrived at
sunset, and the golden sunlight stretching across the sea created a very
poetic scene.
Bai Sau Beach, Vung Tau - Experience the true essence of the beach.
Bai Sau is where I felt the vibrant tourist atmosphere of the city most
clearly. The beach is long, with fine sand, clear water, and plenty of fun
activities like swimming, walking along the coast, or enjoying local snacks.
Morning or late afternoon is the ideal time to enjoy the atmosphere here.
Vung Tau cuisine - Delicious food everywhere you go.
Ut Muoi's Stingray Hot Pot
Address: 10 Truong Cong Dinh Street, Ward 3
One of the dishes that impressed me the most was the stingray hotpot. The
broth was slightly sour, the fish was fresh, and there was no fishy smell at
all. The restaurant is located right on Truong Cong Dinh street, so it's
quite easy to find, and it's always crowded in the evenings.
Banh Khot Goc Vu Sua
Address: 14 Nguyen Truong To Street, Ward 2
I tried the famous banh khot (miniature savory pancakes) here. The pancakes
were crispy, filled with fresh shrimp, and served with fresh vegetables and
sweet and sour fish sauce - a perfect combination. This is one of the
specialties that everyone visiting Vung Tau should try at least once.
Hung Chi Seafood
Address: Ong Ich Khiem Street, Ward, Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
In the evening, I chose to have seafood at Hung Chi restaurant. The
restaurant has a spacious atmosphere and offers many dishes such as shrimp,
squid, snails, and crab, all prepared fresh upon customer order. The prices
are quite reasonable considering the location and quality of the food.
Getting around when traveling in Vung Tau
Getting to and within Vung Tau is quite convenient, suitable for both
independent travelers and groups.
From Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau
I chose to travel by regular bus from the Mien Dong Bus Station or by
limousine. The travel time is about 2.5-3 hours depending on traffic
conditions . If you're driving yourself, you can take the Long Thanh - Dau
Giay Expressway, which is quite good and easy to drive on.
Getting around the city
In Vung Tau, I mainly rented motorbikes for convenience in exploring.
Tourist attractions are quite close together, so getting around doesn't take
too much time. Additionally, taxis or ride- hailing services are also very
common and easy to call.
Personal impressions of traveling to Vung Tau.
After the trip, I realized that Vung Tau is not just a simple beach
destination, but also a suitable place for short, energizing getaways. Each
location has its own unique character: some are vibrant, some are peaceful,
and some are very picturesque.
The cuisine here is also a big plus, with all the dishes being authentically
seafood, fresh, and reasonably priced. In particular, choosing
accommodations like Victory Hotel Vung Tau or Vias Hotel Vung Tau
contributes to creating a distinct experience, blurring the lines between a
budget-friendly trip and a luxurious vacation.
Traveling to Vung Tau always offers a pleasant feeling; it's not too far but
enough to "reset" your spirit. For those looking for a destination with
beautiful beaches, delicious food, easy transportation, and many hotel
options, Vung Tau is definitely a choice not to be missed.
